Fluid Loss Blockers
The Shield against Slurry Loss
System Overview
GEO’s fluid loss blocker system includes two products, GFiber and GBlock, designed to prevent fluid loss during soil stabilization. Fluid loss can compromise excavation stability, particularly in permeable or fractured soils. GFiber, made from natural mineral fibers, and GBlock, a fast-swelling synthetic polymer, create barriers in the soil to control seepage effectively. This system is compatible with support fluids such as the G3 System, Gline, XG series, Bentonite, and standalone slurries.
Applications
GFiber, a natural mineral fiber, is particularly effective in sealing pores in permeable soil layers, such as sandy soils, by forming a dense matrix that blocks fluid flow.
GBlock, a fast-swelling synthetic polymer, is effective in controlling fluid loss in highly granular soils, such as gravels, cobbles, and fractured formations.
When fluid loss is high due to coarse or fractured soil conditions, GFiber and GBlock are combined to enhance the blocking effect. GFiber controls fluid seepage in sandy or permeable soils, while GBlock addresses gaps in coarser soils.
Benefits of Fluid Loss Blockers
Forms a physical barrier, reducing fluid loss and maintaining pressure on the excavation walls.
Usable in various geotechnical conditions and with multiple support fluid systems.
Effective in both permeable and coarse soil layers, minimizing the need for frequent fluid replacement and improving operational efficiency.
Fluid Loss Blocker Products

GBlock
Intense Protection for High-Granularity Soils.
GBlock is a highly swelling synthetic polymer that controls fluid loss in soils with high permeability, like gravels and cobbles. It rapidly swells upon hydration, creating a barrier that minimizes fluid escape.
Superabsorbent Polymer
Fast Hydration
High Swelling Capacity
Reduces Free Water
Synthetic Polymer
GBlock is applied directly into the excavation when encountering permeable soils or fractures. It can be hydrated beforehand or used in its original form, forming a swelling barrier to prevent slurry penetration. It is often combined with GFiber in extreme fluid loss conditions and is compatible with G3 System, GLine, XG series, Bentonite, and standalone slurry products.

GFiber
Natural Fiber Power for Superior Fluid Control.
GFiber is a natural mineral fiber made from the extrusion of continuous filaments. It forms a dense matrix in the fluid, sealing soil pores and fractures to control fluid loss, especially in highly permeable soils like sands. It can be used in combination with GBlock for granular soils or fractured layers.
Natural Mineral Fiber
High Compatibility
Excellent Mechanical Properties
Improves Excavation Wall Interface
Effective in Highly Permeable Soils
GFiber is added directly to the drilling or stabilization fluid, where it interacts with permeable soil layers or fractures. The fibers fill pores and create a physical barrier, preventing slurry from escaping and stabilizing the excavation walls. It is compatible with G3 System, GLine, XG series, Bentonite, and standalone slurry products.
